Dr. L. Glen Lewis is a native of West Monroe, Louisiana. He joined GI Care for Kids in 2003 and has brought an outstanding breadth of knowledge and experience along with empathy and compassion to the practice. He has 30 years’ experience in the field of pediatric gastroenterology.
Prior to joining GI Care for Kids, Dr. Lewis served as a clinician educator at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, one of the leading centers in the country for research and clinical care of children with digestive diseases. During his time there, Dr. Lewis taught fellows, residents, and medical students, as well as delivered quality medical care to pediatric GI patients from southeastern Ohio and the surrounding regions. Dr. Lewis also served as physician leader of the hospital’s Schubert-Martin Inflammatory Bowel Disease IBD Center, where he concentrated on quality of life and outcomes research for pediatric patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease.
Dr. Lewis has published numerous basic science, clinical research and review articles, abstracts, and book chapters on numerous GI topics, including diarrheal disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, and diseases of the gallbladder.
Honors and awards Dr. Lewis has received over the years include the American Gastroenterology Association Senior Research Award for research involving a GI tract hormone (guanylin) and a Procter Scholar award for his record of accomplishment in research. In 2000, Dr. Lewis received the Distinguished Leadership Award for his involvement with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.
