Clinical research enables us to offer the latest advances and treatments to our patients, along with opportunities to participate in national and international research trials. These studies help our physicians stay informed of new and emerging therapies.
Additionally, this research allows us to contribute our expertise and experience to projects around the world, improving treatment for pediatric gastrointestinal disease.
The doctors at GI Care for Kids have studied new treatments for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, hepatitis B, acid reflux, colic, eosinophilic esophagitis, and autism.

Research team
With three full-time coordinators, our research department adds value for your patients. We actively participate in investigator initiated and industry sponsored studies offering the latest pharmaceuticals before they are available anywhere else. We are one of the largest enrollers in ImproveCareNow with over 1000 patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. ImproveCareNow is in the vanguard of monitoring and improving quality outcomes for children and adolescents with IBD. GI Care for Kids is helping lead the way.
Current clinical research trials
We are currently enrolling patients for the following research trials:
Study for Ulcerative Colitis:
Ulcerative Colitis
Ages: 2 to <17 years of age
Duration: 52 weeks with an optional long-term extension
MACARONI -23 and WEBB
Medication: Tremfya or OMVOH (Macaroni-23)
Entyvio (WEBB study)
Your Child may qualify if:
They have been told they have Crohn’s Disease
They are not doing well with the medicine they are taking now
They have stomach pain every day
They have blood in their stool
If they are between the ages of 2 and less
than 18
Duration: This study will last for 1 year and if they continue to do well can continue to get medicine for the next 2 to 4 years.

Disease under study: Nonerosive GERD Study
Drug(s): dexlansoprazole via oral tablets–open label
Age: 2-11 years of age
Duration: 12 weeks
KAZOO-205
Disease under study: IBS – constipation
Study Drug(s): dexlansoprazole via oral tablets–open label
Age: 2 to 11 years of age
Duration: 36 weeks total

Ages: greater than 6 months
Duration: 24 weeks
Weight: between 5 and < 15 Kilograms
