Dr. Hofmekler is passionate about getting to know her patients and their families. She focuses on helping children feel better, grow stronger, and better understand their gastrointestinal health. With a strong belief in good nutrition and clear communication, she works to support each child’s overall well-being.
Dr. Hofmekler earned her medical degree from Morehouse School of Medicine before completing her Pediatrics Residency and Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellowship at Emory University. Following her training, she served as the Director of the Intestinal Rehabilitation Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she also led quality improvement initiatives. During this time, she earned a Master’s in Clinical Research from Emory. Her research has focused on pediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Intestinal Short Gut Syndrome, and nutrition. Dr. Hofmekler’s work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, and presented at national medical conferences.
Since joining GI Care for Kids in 2017, Dr. Hofmekler has volunteered as Chair of Nutrition for the Georgia Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is passionate about advocating for the nutritional needs of Georgia’s children, organizing educational events for pediatricians, and collaborating with WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) to support families in need.
When she’s not seeing patients, Dr. Hofmekler enjoys spending time with her two sons and husband who still thinks that she is fun. She also loves to travel, knit, paint, garden, and is always chasing her next marathon personal record.
