Tatyana Hofmekler, MD, MSc
Born in Minsk, Belarus, Dr. Hofmekler has lived in the Atlanta area since she came to the United States as a child. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Emory University and her Doctorate of Medicine from Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Hofmekler completed her internship and residency in Pediatrics at Emory University as well as her fellowship in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. During that period, Dr. Hofmekler focused her research on pediatric inflammatory bowel disease and nutrition, publishing in several peer reviewed journals, a book chapter and presenting several posters at national meetings.
After fellowship, she joined the faculty at Emory University. She became the director of the Intestinal Rehab of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and helped lead quality initiatives for the group. She also completed a Masters in Clinical Research studying risk factors for admission among pediatric intestinal failure. During the same time, she helped coordinate Interdisciplinary Nutrition Support Rounds at Egleston Children’s Hospital between nutritionists and physicians.
Dr. Hofmekler is a board certified in pediatrics and pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition. She has a passion and interest for all gastrointestinal disorders and has a specific interest in nutrition, inflammatory bowel disease and intestinal failure.
While not working to better the lives of pediatric patient Dr. Hofmekler enjoys jogging, painting, finding new foods, exploring the outdoors and spending time with her husband and two sons.
