Olga Sherrod, M.D.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri, Dr. Sherrod was raised in the Dominican Republic where she graduated from medical school Magna Cum Laude. Her internship and residency were served at the Medical College of Virginia, winning the Emily Gardner Housestaff Award. She remained there for her fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition and then assumed her position as faculty for two years.

Her research on intestinal motility was funded by the National Institutes on Health during her fellowship. She is currently part of GI Care for Kids's research team. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition. She is a member of the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition, the American Pseudo-obstruction and Hirschprung's Disease Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation.

In December 1991 Dr. Sherrod moved to Atlanta and joined the Center for Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition (CPGN). She has been a part of GI Care for Kids since it's beginning in 1999. She is on active staff at Scottish Rite's Medical Center and Northside Hospital. Dr. Sherrod has served as chairperson for the Institute Review Board, as chairperson for the Nutrition Committee and as Medical Director for the Special Procedures Lab at Scottish Rite and of our own GI Care for Kids Endoscopy Center.
